Thomas Scott Sails into Run-Off in Crowded Tampa City Council Race

Tuesday, September 9 was a Special Election Day to fill the vacancy on the Tampa City Council, following the sudden death of Councilwoman Gwen Henderson. A stunning thirteen candidates had qualified for the race. WCFLC screened almost all the candidates and issued an endorsement for Bishop Thomas Scott, a previous City Councilman and County Commissioner.
Scott sailed through the first election with 27.1 percent of the vote, more than double that of the second-place finisher. Now, Scott and his opponent will have a run-off election Tuesday, October 28 with early voting available October 23-26.
