Here's what you need to know this week:

At our CLC meeting last week, we finalized endorsements for St Petersburg City Council elections. The primary election takes place on August 27th, so we hope all who are eligible will get out to vote. Our endorsements, with addresses for campaign contributions, are as follows:

District 1: Withholding endorsement till after the primary

District 3: No Endorsement

District 5: Deborah Figgs-Sanders
4636 - 25th Ave South,
St Petersburg, FL 33711

District 7: Lisa Wheeler-Bowman
PO Box 16062
St Petersburg, FL 33733

Here's what's coming up:

- Be on the lookout for possible canvassing opportunities for our endorsed candidates in St Petersburg.

- Young workers mark your calendars. In two weeks on Thursday 8/29, our Florida Future Labor Leaders chapter will meet at 6PM at IBEW 915 (5621 Harney Rd, Tampa). They'll be going over local updates and discussing the details for the statewide meeting in Orlando! This is the official voice for young union members in our Central Labor Council and the FL AFL-CIO, and all young workers are invited to attend. RSVP HERE

Keep in Mind:

As this is an odd-numbered year, our CLC won't be hosting any formal Labor Day event. If you're still making plans for the weekend, be sure to check with your local union or any local political groups to see what they have planned. As the date gets closer, we'll send out a list of any local events that we're aware of.

That's all for this week! Follow us on Facebook and Twitter for more updates. If you would like to receive text message alerts from the Florida AFL-CIO (Msg & data rates may apply), text FLUNION to 235246!

In Solidarity,

West Central Florida Labor Council
