Here's what you need to know this week:

As of yesterday, worldwide cases of COVID-19, also known as the Coronavirus, have reached 120,000. More than 4,000 lives have been lost, and the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the virus a global pandemic. Although many are making a complete recovery after getting sick, older individuals and those with weakened immune systems are especially at risk, making reducing the spread of this disease incredibly important. As is the case with all pandemics, workers are on the front lines. Many workers in industries like travel, service, and healthcare are putting their lives on the line every day through constant contact with the public. Even if your work does not involve extensive public contact, you may be wondering how the spread of this virus will affect your job.The AFL-CIO has provided a trove of resources for workers across multiple industries. This is a good starting point for anyone looking for more information. You can access these resources and all of the information that comes with them by CLICKING HERE!

Please take all necessary precautions to keep you and your family safe.

Here's what's coming up:

We have no major events in the next week. Please note that the AFL-CIO Presidential Forum scheduled for this evening has been cancelled due to concerns surrounding the Coronavirus. Many other events involving large gatherings are also being cancelled or rescheduled, so we encourage everyone to be aware and safe regarding your plans.

Keep in Mind:

We are in the final week of legislative session. In the next few days, we'll see whether some of the worst legislation we've seen in recent history will be passed into law.   We would like to thank everyone who has participated in legislative session thus far via in-district actions, personal outreach to your elected officials, and/or participation in Working Families Lobby Corps. We urge everyone to remain vigilant throughout the last few days of session for any last minute actions that may be needed in opposition to final efforts to pass bad legislation.

That's all for this week! Follow us on Facebook and Twitter for more updates. If you would like to receive text message alerts from the Florida AFL-CIO (Msg & data rates may apply), text FLUNION to 235246!

In Solidarity,
