Here's what you need to know this week:

Municipal elections took place on Tuesday in Lakeland and St Petersburg. We had endorsements in various races in both cities, and we're excited to announce the results.

In the elections for St Petersburg City Council, we endorsed Robert Blackmon for District 1, Deborah Figgs-Sanders for District 5, and Lisa Wheeler-Bowman for District 7. We're happy to announce that ALL THREE of our candidates were victorious! We look forward to working with them in the future to improve the lives of working people in St Petersburg.

In the elections for Lakeland City Commission , we endorsed Jiwa Farrell for the Northeast Seat and Carole Philipson for the second At-Large Seat. While we regret to inform you that Jiwa Farrell was not successful in her bid for the the Northeast Seat, we're excited to report that Carole Philipson will move on to a runoff election scheduled for Tuesday, December 3rd.

We would like to thank everyone who made it out to vote for these elections and help spread the word about our endorsements, and we hope that those eligible will do the same for the runoff election in Lakeland next month. Stay on the lookout for more information!

Here's what's coming up:

We have no major events in the next week, but be sure to mark your calendars for several things for the week following:

- On Saturday (11/16) Labor Notes will bring their Troublemakers School to Tampa! More info on that below.

- On Wednesday (11/20) we'll be holding our bimonthly Quad County meeting. This meeting serves as an avenue for all union activists in Pasco, Hernando, Citrus, and Sumter Counties to get involved with the CLC. The meeting will take place from 6:30PM to 8:30PM at Beef 'O' Brady's in Brooksville (7601 Horse Lake Rd). If you live in the area, come out and join us!

- On Thursday (11/21) the FEA Fund our Future bus tour will be stopping in Polk County for an educational summit and community conversation about the need to properly fund our public schools throughout the state. Those interested in public education won't want to miss this. The event will take place at 6PM at the Winter Haven Recreation and Cultural Center (801 MLK Blvd NE, Winter Haven).

Keep in Mind:

Activists in our CLC have been working hard to bring the world famous Labor Notes Troublemakers School to Tampa, and date is quickly approaching! The event will take place on Saturday, November 16th at 9AM at Hillsborough Classroom Teachers Association (3102 N Habana Ave, Tampa). Registration is $25 for the standard rate and $15 for the reduced rate, but the knowledge you'll gain is priceless! Register now using THIS LINK.
