Defend Democracy in FL: Tell Rep. Grant NO to 7037

House Bill 7037, sponsored by Representative Grant, would decimate our ability to put amendments on the ballot by gathering signatures. This process is one of the only ways that citizens in our state can have their voice be heard directly, and it has given us amazing wins such as a minimum wage increase and the restoration of voting rights. This bill does three major things:

- Increases the cost of ballot petition verification by around 10X per signature, pricing out grassroots ballot measures

- Significantly raises the number of ballots that must be collected before the Supreme Court decides whether the measure is constitutional, pushing most large scale support away for half of the process

- Cuts the amount of time that signatures are valid for in half, effectively nullifying your signature after so much time has passed
