When you and your coworkers stand together and form a union, you'll get the right to negotiate collectively with your employer for better pay, benefits, and working conditions.

In most cases, the process for doing this is similar:

1) Get together with other co-workers who are also interested in forming a union

2) Talk to a union organizer about strategies and processes

3) Build support for a union among your coworkers

4) Once you have a strong majority, show that support through an election or card-check

Once your union is formed, you'll elect leaders and negotiate a contract. The process is democratic.
